Mr. Affendi is currently serving as the Director-General of the Labuan Financial Services Authority, where he leads the organisation’s regulatory, supervisory, and developmental mandates in advancing Labuan IBFC’s position as a competitive and well-regulated international financial centre.

Mr. Affendi from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) most recently served as Chief Services Officer, where he led the strategic direction and execution of the Bank’s Centralised Shared Services to enhance institutional excellence and service delivery. During his tenure at BNM, he held several key positions, including Director of the Finance Department, Deputy and manager of the Development Finance and Inclusion Department, and served as a core member of the Financial Sector Blueprint team.

Throughout his career, Mr. Affendi played a significant role in shaping financial sector policies and regulatory frameworks, particularly in strengthening Development Financial Institutions. He also advised BNM’s management and Board on financial, tax, treasury, and shared services strategies.

Mr. Affendi holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Accountancy from University Teknologi Mara (UiTM). He professionally affiliated with ICAEW, FCCA ,MICPA, MIA, and AICB.
