Mr. Affendi currently serves as Director-General of the Labuan Financial Services Authority, leading its regulatory, supervisory, and developmental mandates to strengthen Labuan IBFC’s position as a competitive and well-regulated international financial centre.

Previously, he served as Chief Services Officer at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), overseeing Centralised Shared Services to enhance institutional excellence and service delivery. His other key roles included Director of the Finance Department, Deputy and Manager of the Development Finance and Inclusion Department, and core member of the Financial Sector Blueprint team.

He contributed to shaping financial sector policies and regulatory frameworks, particularly in strengthening Development Financial Institutions, and advised BNM’s management and Board on financial, tax, treasury, and shared services strategies.

Mr. Affendi holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He is affiliated with ICAEW, FCCA, MICPA, MIA, and AICB.
