Biography

Shri K. Rajaraman is a 1989-batch IAS officer (Tamil Nadu cadre) currently serving as the Chairperson of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). His appointment follows a distinguished 35-year career in senior leadership roles within the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Notably, before leading IFSCA, he served as the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications. His extensive administrative portfolio includes pivotal roles such as Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Managing Director of Chennai Metro Railways during its foundational phase, and Commissioner for Commercial Taxes (Tamil Nadu).

An engineer by training (B.Tech in Electronics & Communications), Shri Rajaraman also holds an MBA and a Master of Economics. His career, which began as a Design Engineer at BHEL, now spans expertise in investment promotion, FDI, industrial infrastructure, and public sector management, making him a versatile leader in India's financial and economic regulatory landscape.
