Biography

A distinguished Filipino lawyer, economist and government official with a diverse career spanning academia, private sector, and public service. He was recently appointed as a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines. Prior to this, he served as the Government Corporate Counsel, overseeing legal departments of nearly a thousand government corporations.

He graduated from the University of the Philippines with degrees in Economics and Law, placing 10th in the 1981 Bar Exams. He further obtained a Master of Laws from Louisiana State University and a Doctor of the Science of Jurisprudence from Tulane University.

His professional experience includes teaching Civil and Commercial Law, Director of the Bar Review Institute and a pioneer in Continuing Legal Education. In the private sector, Quevedo was the early practitioner in IT and telecommunication law and held executive positions at PLDT SMART, the leading Telecommunication Corporation in the Philippines for several decades.
