Biography
Rostan Schwab is passionate about harnessing technology and entrepreneurship to drive financial inclusion and economic growth in emerging markets. Raised in Strasbourg at the crossroads of French and German culture, and the son of a Brazilian biochemist and a French doctor, he brings a deeply multicultural perspective to his work. Over a 25-year career in strategy consulting, investment banking, and private capital, Rostan has led or advised on transactions exceeding US$2 billion across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
He is currently the Africa and East-Asia Pacific Co-Lead for FinTech investments at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. At IFC, he has invested in and supported a portfolio of pioneering FinTechs in neobanking, digital lending, and payments, several achieving exponential growth. Rostan holds degrees from Wharton, the Lauder Institute, and EM Lyon, speaks five languages, and is based in Bangkok.
