Rufaida Hamilton is the Head of Payments at Standard Bank South Africa, with 24 years of experience across investment, corporate, and retail banking. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, a law degree (1998), and a BCom Honours from the University of KZN.

She has worked at three of South Africa’s largest banks and served in key board and committee roles within the SA payments ecosystem. Passionate about enhancing payments, she led the design and implementation of South Africa’s Instant Payments system and contributed to the formation of the country’s new payments industry body.

A strong advocate for women in payments, Rufaida mentors emerging talent through Women in Payments Canada and is a Money 20/20 Rise Up alumna (2019). She serves on the Currency Research board and the Women in Payments EMEA Advisory Board
