Supriyo is presently working as Chief General Manager, Department of Banking Regulation with additional charge for the Division of Payments and Settlement systems, IFSCA. In his prior role as an officer in the Reserve Bank of India, Supriyo has worked in the areas of Payments and Settlements Systems, Foreign Exchange reserve management and regulation of the Indian foreign exchange market. He joined Reserve Bank of India as Direct Recruit in Grade B in the year 2002 and took voluntary retirement as a General Manager in 2023 to join IFSCA.

In IFSC, Supriyo spearheaded the development of the foreign currency settlement system in IFSC that was launched in October 2027 and that enables USD transactions between Banks in IFSC to be settled locally. He is also involved in the authorisation of fintechs as payment service providers for enhancing the speed of cross border payments to and from India.
