The business case for a national coin attached to a cryptocurrency
As the world celebrates the 9th birthday of Bitcoin, central banks from around the world are increasingly recognising the potential upsides and downsides of digital currency. Have new central bank digital currencies (CBDC) based at least in part on blockchain technology become inevitable, or do unsolved problems or fundamental obstacles remain? This session will discuss the biggest remaining challenges for CBDC, and which protocols and technology platforms are most likely to underpin a CBDC. How much of a competitive challenge will these present to cryptocurrencies?
