Derek White heads BBVA's Global Customer and Client Solutions area and leads the delivery of the digital transformation of the bank to support the achievement of BBVA's strategic purpose of bringing the age of opportunity to everyone.
Customer abd Client Solutions includes the main creation areas of the bank: Business Development in all countries; Global Products and Digital Sales; Design, Marketing and Responsible Business; and the development and delivery of core new capabilities. Customer and Client Solutions also integrates the global businesses of Insurance and Prevision, Asset Management and Global Wealth and New Digital Businesses - which focuses on investing and launching disruptive innovative digital banking businesses as well as fostering collaboration and partnerships with the start-up and developer ecosystem.
Customer and Client Solutions' focus is on Amazing, Connected, Execution.
Derek joined BBVA in March 2016 and is based in Madrid. Prior to BBVA, he worked for Barclays, joining through the acquisition of Juniper Bank, where he was an early member of the start-up internet bank. In his final role at Barclays, Derek led the U.K. bank’s digital banking initiative, embracing disruptive technologies and the startup ecosystem, while overseeing the design and launch of market leading applications, platforms and services.
Before joining Barclays, Derek was an entrepreneur, and was part of the team that created the world’s first internet bank (wingspan), and also worked at First USA Bank (now JPMorgan Chase) in the U.S.
Derek is originally from Utah, having graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts, Liberal Arts and Sciences. He subsequently studied for an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School.
